Ready to feel better?
Meet Amanda Parmley, Licensed Clinician Mental Health Counselor near Wilmington, NC
You’re tired of feeling like everyday is a struggle. You know that you’re your own worst enemy. You’ve tried curbing your inner critic on your own but it just hasn’t worked. You’re tired of feeling like your worth is always dependent upon your performance.
You’re ready to finally feel good enough.
I work with clients who:
Feel like they’re their own worst critic
Constantly feel like they’re not good enough
Are tired of anxiety controlling them
Are ready to move forward from painful past experiences that continue to impact them
As a therapist, I believe that we often can’t address what’s going on in our present without looking to our past. Together we’ll work towards identifying the negative beliefs that hold you back, as well as the past experiences that have shaped your current struggles. Letting go of negative personal beliefs, such as “I’m not good enough” or “I’m worthless” on your own can feel impossible. Let me help.
Am I the right therapist for you?
I get it. If proving your worth was possible, you’d have proved it by now. You’ve tried time and time again to reason with yourself but can’t seem to convince yourself that you’re as worthy as everyone else. You’ve tried affirmations, reading self-help books & therapy in the past but nothing seems to have stuck.
I’ve been in your shoes and I know how it feels to be held hostage by negative beliefs & people pleasing tendencies. Anxiety can feel like it’s nonstop. There is only so much any one person can do.
As a therapist, I can help. I have over 10 years of experience working as a counselor. Although not the only modality I offer, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and specialize in working with clients who struggle with anxiety, trauma and low self-esteem. As both a therapist and client myself, I can attest to how life-changing EMDR can be, especially if you’ve tried other types of psychotherapy without success.
Client’s describe me as: non-judgmental & empathetic.
I offer a safe space for clients to dig deep, gain personal insight, and ultimately get “unstuck”.
While it’s completely normal to feel nervous when you first start counseling or tacking a sensitive subject, you can rest assured that you won’t encounter judgment during our time together.

Person-Centered
Sessions are tailored to best meet your needs. At the heart of therapy with me, you can expect ongoing empathy & non-judgment.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing is a trauma-informed approach to therapy that can provide long-lasting and deep changes. EMDR is an approach that allows our brains to heal past trauma & move forward from negative beliefs and behaviors than can otherwise feel impossible to let go.
CBT-I
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia is a short-term therapy that addresses behavioral changes for effective insomnia treatment. If you book a CBT-I session, you can expect to modify certain behavioral patterns that contribute to and often greatly exacerbate insomnia.
